11 of Nova Scotia’s top swimmers continue to compete at the 2018 Speedo Eastern Canadian Championships at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.
Top finishers during the second day of competition include Wolfville’s Ava Vial, Truro’s Madison Bond and Halifax’s Nicholas Bourbonniere (for the second night in a row). 16-year-old Ava Vial of the Wolfville Tritons Swim Club had two swims tonight; she finished 16th in the 16 & Over Women’s 400m Individual Medley with a 5:11.79 and 18th in the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.57.
Nicholas Bourbonniere of the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club finished 14th in the 14-16 Men’s 400m Individual Medley with a time of 4:46.52. 13-year-old Madison Bond, of the Truro Centurions Swim Club also earned herself a second swim in the women’s 13-15 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:18.22 with an 18th place finish.
This long course competition serves as an excellent racing and development opportunity for Youth and Junior competitors, and is held on the same weekend as the Speedo Western Canadian Championships. There are approximately 550 swimmers racing through Sunday April 15th.
Preliminaries begin at 9:00am local time and finals at 6:00pm local time daily.
