17 of Nova Scotia’s top Junior swimmers returned home on Monday following a successful week-long training camp and competition at The Mel Zajac Jr. International Invitational Swim Meet at UBC’s Aquatic Centre, led by Provincial Coach, Lance Cansdale and Coach, Mark McGrann.
The objective of the training camp was to provide top Junior swimmers with focused, long course training, followed by a fast, high-level racing opportunity as swimmers prepare for the upcoming summer Championship window. The camp included key training and racing strategies that swimmers could apply immediately during the competition.
The Mel Zajac Jr. International Invitational Swim Meet featured top swimmers from across Canada and the United States, including Canada’s Youth and Junior Teams and the USA Junior Team. Nearly 800 swimmers from 75 teams were in attendance during the three-day competition, May 24-26th.
Many of Nova Scotia’s swimmers achieved personal best times and top places at the competition. The following swimmers earned top 30 placings:
