Top Swims for Nova Scotia Swimmers Racing at the Canadian Swimming Championships


Eight of Nova Scotia’s top swimmers are now competing at the 2017 Canadian Swimming Championships in Montreal, Quebec. The competition is taking place at Montreal’s Olympic Park Sports Centre through Monday August 7th.

Dartmouth Crusader swimmer, Brett Liem earned himself a spot in the A final, where he finished ninth in the men’s 50m Freestyle with a 23.55.  During the preliminaries, Brett tied the current Senior Men’s Nova Scotia Provincial Record with a time of 23.43.

Other top swims of the day included Natasha Sexton Quillian of the Sackville Waves Aquatic Team, who finished fourth in the Para Women’s S10 400m Freestyle with a time of 5:37.11; she also competed in the Para Women’s S10 50m Freestyle where she finished 10th with a 33.33.  Halifax Trojan swimmer, Gavin Dyke, finished 20th in the men’s 50m Freestyle with a time of 24.39.

The Canadian Swimming Championships are a senior national championship meet.  This is a high-level meet that features Canada’s recent World Championships team members competing alongside the next generation of Canadian swimmers.

Prelims begin at 10:00am daily and finals will begin at 6:00pm local time.
