Awards & Recognition
Swim Nova Scotia has a number of awards and recognition programs available for members that are outlined below.
Academic Excellence Award
The “Academic Excellence Award" is developed to recognize swimmers in grades 10 - 12 academic accomplishments. This is an opportunity for our organization to acknowledge the hard work that takes place outside of the pool. Coaches may submit the following nomination form annually by June 30th. 2023 is the inaugural year for this recognition program
Swimmers of the Year
There shall be four awards presented annually by Swim Nova Scotia. One each to a male and female swimmer, and one to each male and female PARA Swimmer based on the top single ranked swim (IPC World rankings will be used for PARA swimmers) that took place during the previous season’s SNC performance windows.
Athlete of the Month
Swim Nova Scotia nominates top performing athletes to Sport Nova Scotia’s Cleve’s Source for Sports Athlete of the Month Awards.
Making A Difference Outstanding Community Service Award
The “Making A Difference Outstanding Community Service Award" is developed to honour registered Swim Clubs who are making significant contributions to their community through their time, actions, talents, and dedication over the last twelve months.
The award recognizes the actions, commitment, leadership, service, and community spirit that have made a difference in the lives of those in the community outside of the pool. It recognizes leadership in promoting awareness of accessibility in the community, outstanding contributions towards advancing sustainability initiatives, or a genuine commitment to providing a better future for your local community. Clubs may submit the following nomination form annually by June 30th. 2023 is the inaugural year for this award.
Coaches Honour Roll
The “Coaches Honour Roll" is developed to recognize coaches for their swimmers’ accomplishments at all levels. This is an opportunity for our organization to acknowledge the hard work that takes place inside of the pool with coaches from grassroots to performance. Head Coaches may submit the following nomination form twice annually. 2023 was the inaugural year for this recognition program; visit this page on our webpage to see the 2023 recipients to date.
Development Coach of the Year
The “Development Coach of the Year Award" is developed for Swim Nova Scotia to recognize development coaches in our province. This is an opportunity for head coaches to nominate an admirable coach who has contributed to swimming; they may submit the following nomination form annually by June 30th.
PARA Coach of the Year
Selection to be made by Swim Nova Scotia annually based on the coach of record for the highest ranked PARA Swimmer from the IPC World rankings during the SNC published performance windows.
Performance Coach of the Year
Selection to be made by Swim Nova Scotia annually based on the coach of record for the highest absolute ranked able-bodied swimmer (based on SNC Online Rankings) during the SNC published performance windows.
Official of the Year
Selection to be made by Swim Nova Scotia annually based on an outstanding official who demonstrates dedication to leadership, contributions to local, provincial and national swimming development, and is seen as an advocate for fair play and ethical behaviour in swimming.
Volunteer of the Year
Selection to be made by Swim Nova Scotia annually based on an outstanding volunteer who demonstrates dedication to leadership, contributions to local, provincial and national swimming development, and is seen as an advocate for fair play and ethical behaviour in swimming.
Presidents Award
Selection to be made annually by the Swim Nova Scotia President to an outstanding contributor to swimming in Nova Scotia. This award is presented at the annual general meeting.
