Events
Competitive swimming events are a great way to challenge the swimmers in your club to reach for their best. Events are hosted by clubs and Swim Nova Scotia. The Schedule of Events for Summer, Year-Round and Masters swimming in Nova Scotia is set by Swim NS and must be sanctioned by Swim NS via the Swimming Canada webpage. Programming is developed following Swimming Canada’s Swimmer Development Matrix; Swim NS Event Descriptors can be found here.

Time Standards are reviewed each year and adjusted as necessary to ensure accuracy and balance between events and are available below with each respective program.

2024 Open Water Events:
Open Water Event #1 - Thursday July 18th; 5:00pm check-in, racing begins at 6:00pm; course cutoff 8:00pm. Registration coming soon!
Race start times:
6:00pm 5km Start
6:05pm 3km Start
6:10pm 1km Start
8:00pm Course Cut-off (all competitors must be out of the water)
Check-In: 5:00-5:30pm
Safety Briefing: 5:40pm
Race Distances: 1km (All Ages), 3km (13 & Over) and 5km swims (13 & Over) – ages as of event day
Fees: $20.00 Swim NS Members, $25.00 Non-Members (registration includes limited membership with Swim NS).
Open Water Event #2 - Thursday August 8th; 5:00pm check-in, racing begins at 6:00pm; course cutoff 8:00pm. Registration will be available in mid July.
